Animated videos offer a powerful way to communicate ideas and keep people informed. Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STH) wanted to create an animated internal communications film to remind staff of the correct procedures and processes in place to help stop the spread of coronavirus within their hospitals. Although all hospital staff follow national guidance for infection prevention and are trained in how to limit the spread of infection of Covid-19, the Trust wanted a simple, visual reminder to help ensure staff continue to keep ‘Covid at bay’.
We worked closely with the Communications team at STH to produce an animation video that would deliver value for money and a quick turnaround.
One way to keep the costs down was utilising some of the Trust’s existing visual assets that it had previously developed for print and digital communications.
Following a project scoping meeting, we identified how we could combine these existing assets with new content. We also established that a voiceover would be needed to help communicate the message and support the visuals.
STH commenced the voiceover script development, while the Pixelwave Creative team got to work on the original artwork – stripping down the assets into individual elements ready for animation.
We developed draft artwork for the additional elements required, produced a storyboard for approval from the client and started addressing the animation phase. It was agreed to produce a simple, no-frills animation to suit the budget that still packed a punch with its delivery. We also sourced a suitable voice actor to voice the dialogue.
Once the project was ready to check, it needed to go through a strict sign-off process. Working with a large organisation, such as Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, requires taking in feedback from a number of key decision-makers and stakeholders.
We were able to demonstrate our flexibility and ability to amend content quickly and creatively to meet the brief and ensure full client satisfaction across the board.
