Explainer videos: show people how to use your services

Have you ever learned how to do something with the help of an internet search? You wouldn’t be alone. Statistics show that more people than ever are turning to the web to find out ‘how’ something happens or works.

Explainer videos70% of millennials watch YouTube to learn how to do something new or learn more about something they’re interested in. While Google’s most popular search queries are dominated by ‘How to’ queries.

In 2017, the top three were: how to make slime, how to make solar eclipse glasses and how to buy Bitcoin.

Whenever I’m searching online to find out how to do something, my first preference is to watch a video. Watching a tutorial of how to do something, including visuals and an audible explanation, is far more effective than reading through a list of bullet points of text on a website.

‘How to’ videos – also known as explainer videos – are often used by:

– Current customers looking for support on a product they’ve purchased or a service they use

– Prospective customers looking to make informed buying decisions based on the support, professionalism and knowledge of a service provider or supplier

– Companies to provide an effective training tool for staff to save time and money

Let’s take a look at a recent successful explainer video project.
