Bury Hospice: Pixelwave’s Charity for 2020

Pixelwave Creative is delighted to announce it has chosen Bury Hospice as its charity of the year for 2020.

Bury Hospice delivers medical care to people in the borough of Bury who are living with a life-threatening illness, while also supporting their families and carers.

Next year, the charitable organisation will celebrate 30 years of helping people in the local community at their time of need. Its services are free to people, with Bury Hospice receiving some government funding but the remaining funds are achieved through fundraising and charitable donations.

Throughout the next 12 months, the Pixelwave Creative team will identify opportunities to both fundraise and donate to the Hospice. The team is currently brainstorming ideas on the best activities to help raise money and are in exciting discussions with the Hospice about how our video services can help promote its amazing work.

“We are proud as a Bury-based company to be associated with a charity that does such outstanding work in the local community,” explains JP Woffenden, managing director of Pixelwave Creative.

“In 2019, we filmed the Hospice’s brilliant Strictly Best Foot Forward fundraising event and got to learn more about the charitable organisation and how it works with people who need their care. Because we specialise in producing compelling video for healthcare clients, our partnership for 2020 made perfect sense and we can’t wait to support Bury Hospice throughout 2020.”

This year, we are already committed to working with the Hospice on its Strictly Best Foot Forward 2020 initiative, JP and Angus will be running the Bury 10k later in the year, and JP will stepping up for the Hospice by taking 5,000 steps a day throughout February.

Dale Mulgrew, Bury Hospice’s Events Fundraiser, said: “We are thrilled to hear that local Bury-based media company Pixelwave Creative has chosen Bury Hospice as its charity of the year. Last December, Pixelwave Creative filmed our major fundraising event of the year and did a superb job in both the capture on the night and the editing afterwards. They helped us as one of the event’s sponsors and their approach and outlook was supremely professional.”

It costs £2.56million to run the Hospice but it only receives 25 per cent of this amount from the government. Here’s a little insight into how fundraising and donations can help:

  • £12 will feed a patient for a day
  • £35 will cover a physiotherapy session
  • £50 will support two bereavement sessions
