JP’s 300km fundraising challenge for Bury Hospice
The Pixelwave Creative team got to learn all about Bury Hospice when we captured its brilliant Strictly Best Foot Forward fundraising event on film in 2019 – and chose to support the Hospice as our ‘charity of the year’.
Bury Hospice delivers medical care to people in the borough of Bury who are living with a life-threatening illness, while also supporting their families and carers.
Its services are free to people, with Bury Hospice receiving some government funding but the remaining funds are achieved through fundraising and charitable donations.
However, following Covid-19 restrictions, the Hospice had to close its shops and warehouses, and put its community fundraising on hold.
One of the ways we planned to fundraise for the Hospice was for our MD, JP Woffenden, to take part in the Bury 10k race on 20 September, but with many races already falling by the wayside due to the coronavirus, he decided to put into place ‘Plan B’.
He will attempt to run 10,000 metres (10km) every week until the end of the year – from when his challenge began a few weeks ago, that works out at 300,000 metres (300km), or the equivalent of about SEVEN marathons!
Here is JP’s first 10km run – through the Stubbins Estate to enjoy glorious views of the surrounding countryside, towns and moorland as he ascends Holcombe Hill. All while carrying his camera to capture the action! You can watch other running sessions at JP’s YouTube channel.
As well as your motivational support to keep JP going through seasonal rain or shine, Bury Hospice will benefit hugely from your sponsorship.
