Our managing director, JP Woffenden, has raised more than £1500 for Bury Hospice after successfully completing his challenge to run 300,000 metres in seven months.
JP smashed his fundraising target as he ran 306km up the hills and round the trails of Bury and surrounding Rossendale area between July and December.

His first run was a 10km run through the Stubbins Estate and down Holcombe Hill. While his final run saw JP take on his longest run ever – a half marathon with a 594m elevation gain – taking him from the Hospice before finishing in his hometown of Waterfoot.
Bury Hospice delivers medical care to people in the borough of Bury who are living with a life-limiting illness, while also supporting their families and carers.
Services are free to people, with Bury Hospice receiving some government funding but the remaining funds are achieved through fundraising and charitable donations.
It has been a difficult year for the Hospice with the coronavirus pandemic forcing the closure of its charity shops and warehouses, while putting community fundraising on hold.

JP says: “When the pandemic hit and it looked like the Bury 10K would be cancelled (which I planned to run to raise money for Bury Hospice), I decided to take on an alternative challenge. Inspired by many amazing fundraising events since lockdown – Captain Tom setting a fine example – I too wanted to do something that was not only a physical and mental challenge for me, but something that people could get behind with the hope of raising as much money as possible.”
“I honestly thought my £1,000 fundraising target was a bit too high so was beyond delighted to see the donations flooding in – we reached my target at the halfway point in the challenge. Trying to document my challenge has been hard work. Filming myself on my runs has been challenging but I think has played a big part in drumming up the support.”
“The last few weeks have been getting harder and harder, and I’ve struggled to get out of the door at times. But once I’m out I always enjoy the run and the support and generosity from family, friends and wider network has kept me motivated.
“Bury Hospice do a fantastic job for the local community and rely on charity donations, so I am delighted to help provide much-needed funds.”
As well as JP’s fundraising efforts, the Pixelwave Creative has also supported Bury Hospice throughout the year as our chosen charity for 2020.
In November and December, we donated our time and services to produce video content for the Hospice’s Light Up a Life annual event – which year this took place online.
